Canadian Rockies - Glacier Adventure

Glacier Discover Center is located between Lake Louise and Jasper on Icefields Parkway.  Google shows it takes 3 hours from Canmore to Glacier Center.  It took us four and half hours.  Because we stopped at Bow Lake and Peyto Lake.

It was fascinating experience.  Anybody can't drive up to the glacier by their own cars.  Everybody has to take bus provide by the center to go there.  These special buses called Ice Explorer.  Our driver told us: there are only 23 this kind of buses in the world, specially made for this center.  The wheels were special designed for glacier.  They won't damage the ice when drive on the glacier.  Before go on to the ice, all buses have to pass a small pond.  The driver explained the purpose to do so is to clean up all the sand and dirt from wheels before go on to the glacier.  There is not much snow in recent years, the glacier is getting smaller.  If leave any sand or dirt on the ice, it will melt faster.
